DANCE ON THE CLOUDS.

Faux Leather Jacket: ZARA (similar online) / Cloud Skirt & Top: Choies / Metallic heels: Alaia from The Outnet / Lips necklace: Choies

It's all been a total blur since last week when I returned from NYFW. It swear it feels as though I was never really there because the days were so hectic and lively, that they were over before I knew it. I digress, can we just talk about the fact that it's practically mid-November here in Toronto? Seriously, it was 9 degrees Celsius (48 degrees F) a couple days ago, which to my surprise, I've been worshipping. I still keep my air conditioner blasting in my house because I suppose my blog has been so boiled this summer that it takes a recovery time (that's my uneducated, ridiculous assumption anyway).

But alas, leather jackets have finally come into the picture! Can I get a hallelujah? We already know I love screwing over a perfectly feminine outfit (here) with pieces of grunge culture. So oops I did it again- with this leather jacket paired with gorgeous Alaia heels from The Outnet, a cloudy duo, and a perfectly sparkling pair of lips- or six.

So these few days are pretty much filled with ways to end up back in NYC. I'm not quite level-desperate yet, but I'm definitely working at it every day.
See you next week, when it will undoubtedly be freaking winter soon.

ALOHA.

Blue Tropical Dress: ZARA / Nude Sandal Heels: Alexander Wang / Sunglasses: Ray-Ban Wayfarer / Jacket: ZARA

What's better than a little Hawaiian tropical print in the end of July? Uh, nothing.
I couldn't even begin to tell you how badly I want to hit up a thrift store and shop the man's t-shirt section for hawaiian prints. I'm just in love, that's it.
I let this dress do all the talking with basic sandals and minimal accessories. This jacket I'm holding? I found it at ZARA; it's a faux-leather jacket which screams 90's grunge. Basically, expect to see lots of it this upcoming fall.
Am I crazy for looking forward to fall? It's absolutely always been my favourite season, but I wish the temperatures would stop falling by October. I'm good with 10 degrees being my minimum.
I'm 18 this year though, so I'm a free willy. I'm not forced to live in a cold climate, and you sure can bet that I will exercise that right.
I'm out. Peace ;)

SODA POP.

  1. Denim vest and shorts. Alexander Wang Kirsten Purse. Ray-Ban Wayfarers. Marc by Marc Jacobs watch.
Sometimes it's just appropriate to throw on a terribly 90's ensemble; it can set the mood for rummaging the streets with friends, which let's be honest, we all do on a daily basis. If you must know, I wore this ensemble to the pet store!
All jokes aside I'm really starting to fall in love with things like rompers, dresses, and matching tops and bottoms because they are just so simple to work with!
It's a no brainer! Buy a statement romper and dress and you don't really need to worry about styling!
This next week is going to be absolutly mad: I'm shooting with an amazing photographer, attending high school prom, leaving to italy for 10 days, oh and yea... turning 18!
Hello credit cards and tattoos!

SHE WORE BLUE VELVET.

Leather jacket: K-Styleme / Blouse: Free People / Black Jeans: Hudson Jeans / Velvet Boots: Anna Xi / Necklace: Forever 21 / Purse: Celine

I used to never be a leather jacket kind-of girl. I thought they were far too rough looking for someone that typically prefers pastels over dark shades, and silks over leather. Well, I was wrong. This leather jacket has not come off of me since I got it, and I was actually approached and asked to work for a major fashion retailer while I was wearing it. The magical leather jacket, ladies and gentlemen!
For a mild spring day I paired it with my favorite ultra-soft blouse from Free People, everyday jeans, and my new velvet booties that are striking and so beautiful. In all actuality this outfit was worn to IKEA, and it wans't so easy manouvering 50kg of furniture in these heels, but that's cool, don't worry, I got it all under control ;)
See you soon!

TARTAN & BURNOUT.

Burnout T-Shirt: K-Styleme.com / Tartan jeans: Topshop (similar) / Cat flats: Choies.com / Hat: H&M / Purse: 3.1 Phillip Lim / Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs

You know, I was walking downtown yesterday when I thought to myself: "I'm not cold!!! How am I not cold?! My fingers aren't freezing! I'm comfortable!"
Spring time excites me just a little too much.. ;)
If I had to give one piece of clothing the label of being "my signature item"- it would have to be a grey t-shirt. I have them in all different shades, washes, sizes, some with prints, some with holes. It's like pokemon- I just gotta catch em' all.
I specifically fancy this grey t-shirt for the fit and the amazing cut-out details on the collar. I paired it with the tartan pants I only wore once- when I was in London, and kitty flats that I can't help but love.
I'm curious- what would you say is your "signature item"?

OVERJOYED.

Top: Urban Outfitters / Skirt: Brandy Melville / Plaid shirt: ROMWE / Converse: Chicnova.com / Sunglasses: Ray-Ban Reflective Aviators / Ray-Ban Wayfarers

I genuinely believe I was the happiest human on planet Earth today.
Dreams seriously do come true- it was so sunny today that I could tan outside, wear a t-shirt and not freeze! I decided to highlight a new trend I see becoming very popular now: the plaid shirt tied around the waist. The 3.1 Phillip Lim version is absolutely beautiful, but nonetheless can be recreated for a fraction of the cost by tying a vintage shirt over a black body-con skirt! This week is going to be absolutely amazing: I'm walking in the FW13 Mikhael Kale show, and will definitely be blogging all about his beautiful new collection.
See you soon (probably in a parka next time...)

CANDY COLORED.

Sweater: WILDFOX / High-waisted pants: American Apparel / Combat boots: Browns / Purse: 3.1 Phillip Lim

Is my pastel clothing deceiving?
Did you think for a second that it's spring time in Toronto?
You were deceived, for it is not.
Today Anat and I walked around Queen Street West, got beer-flavored macarons from Nadege, lots and lots of tea, and then ended up at Kensington Market surrounded by vintage shops and organic markets. Next week is Toronto Fashion Week, so of course I'll share all of the exciting events and shows!
My life literally revolves around checking the weather forecast every hour in hopes for a miracle. It's not coming, is it? Last March (evidence can be found in my blog post here) it was 26 degrees Celsius... which is August weather. Can't blame me for believing in the bipolar abilities of Toronto!

SANTA MONICA.

Thankfully the last day in California was also the hottest day, so it only made sense to dedicate our time to the beach.
We started with a beautiful brunch at the well-known Ivy Restaurant, which is not a place I would usually gravitate towards because of it's colorful elegance and far-from-flashy exterior, but my goodness it was magical. Maybe I love it so much because I've been craving french toast for two months ;)
Santa Monica is such an amazing place to spend the day, especially if you're a couple (you'd fit right in with all the people making out). The whole time we were watching a couple rehearsing dramatic and romantic lines for a movie, it was quite the entertainment.
We walked around Third Street Promenade again and decided to drive back to Beverly Hills, where I made a very exciting purchase I'll share soon!
Thank you California, you were just what I needed and absolutely perfect in every way.
To everyone dreaming of taking a trip to Los Angeles: set your mind to it, and then just go for it
See you soon

BEVERLY HILLS: 90210

Another beautiful day in Los Angeles: complete!
We started the morning at Urth Caffe, which I knew would be amazing but wasn't sure if it was worth the hype. Let me assure you, it is definitely worth the hype. I don't think I've ever had a better breakfast, and that says a lot coming from a breakfast connoisseur like myself (get a granola bowl or the banana nut oatmeal and a boba).
We then went on a walk down Rodeo drive and ended up at Sprinkles, which I certainly didn't mind. The european architecture and overall feel of Rodeo drive was beautiful, and we did indeed see a million-dollar car as rightfully expected.
We drove back to Santa Monica and shopped around at Buffalo Exchange, and then had dinner at Whole Foods (again...)

I chose a monochromatic combination of a silk cami and skirt to purposefully match the elegance of Beverly Hills, and matched it with a sea foam green cardigan for contrast and warmth.

LA FIN.

Coat: Choies.com / Beanie: Urban Oufitters / Black Jeans: Hudson Jeans / Yellow Pullover: Vintage / Scarf: Forever 21 /  Boots: Choies.com / Purse: 3.1 Phillip Lim

La fin... yes I can only hope that this is la fin of winter coats, scarves and mittens.
It's March! Why aren't the flowers blooming yet? Why were my toes numb when I got home today? What ever happened to climate change?
Thankfully I'm escaping to Los Angeles tomorrow and bearing my pale ghostly limbs to the sun. I honestly don't even know how I'm going to react when I land on the California soil and go outside... and feel warm. What is it like to be outside and not freeze? I don't remember!
I'll be sharing my travels with you for the next week so be sure to visit soon.

WELL HERE COMES THE SUN.

The days are getting longer now, which is definitely making me more optimistic.
Tomorrow I'm going to try and make a big step towards my goals, which is a huge risk, but  I've learned that you should never start from the bottom.
Don't be afraid of rejection and seek an easy way out. Start at the top, and if you get kindly rejected, work your way down. It's easy to become discouraged and feel small, but the key to success, and I promise you this, is just visualizing yourself living your dreams, and just working towards them every day. Can you imagine a person that works hard everyday to make their dreams come true, and doesn't ever achieve them? I can't.
Be fearless :)

BURNING BRIDGES.

You know when you see something in a store, and you can't stop staring at it? It's weird, and you have no idea how it would look like once it's on you. Evidently, you must try this questionable item on.
Well, that's exactly what happened with this peplum dress from the new ZARA collection.
I paired it with opaque tights, because let's face it, one experience of being half-naked in the snow is more than enough for me.
Go-with-everything boots - check! Go-with-everything coat - check!

This has been a really fun week of meetings, events, and showrooms, which is definitely my favorite way to fill up my agenda! I also faced my fear and "burned a bridge" this week, and am more than excited to talk about it in more details in the near future.
See you soon!

BIGGIE SAYS SO.

This shirt; let's talk about it for a second. It's the epitome of cool.
Paired with embellished jeans, classic heels and mirrored ray-bans, you have yourself a perfect spring outfit. But wait, it's not spring. In fact it seems like winter just started considering the monstrous snow fall the east coast had last week.
Melting snow is a boot destroyer. It is not my friend, I'll tell you that.
Today I'm off to the #Iloveessence event to check out the new essence collection, and you best believe I'll be taking you all along.
See you soon.

"NEW YEAR, NEW ME!" - THE BOYFRIEND JEAN

Asos / J Brand (pictured below) / Zara / River Island / One Teaspoon (which I have been lusting after)

Boyfriend jeans have come a long way.
I remember when they used to literally look like men's jeans. Too wide of a leg, too uniform, too.. awkward. I've noticed more and more that I've recently become incredibly attracted to boyfriend jeans! They look almost like skinny jeans, except they possess a harem pant charm and a pinch of laid back cool.

The key to a perfect boyfriend jean?
- Perfectly fitted at the hips (buy your size, don't size up or down!)
- Rips and distressing to taste. I like a moderate amount of distressing. Boyfriend jeans without rips look off to me.
- The ideal shade of light blue. I find that boyfriend jeans work exponentially better when they are of a light-wash denim.
- A rolled up ankle, especially when pairing with heels.
- Confidence!

Toronto was pretty dramatically snowed in this morning, which honestly doesn't bother me too much. I don't have to drive to work, which means jasmine green tea can be my best friend right now. It's quite picturesque looking to my terrace and seeing ... white, and only white.
 See you soon!

DECIPHER REFLECTIONS

These past few days have been quite gloomy and unreadable- which to me means wearing my favorite and most comfortable sweaters (and glorious veggie sandwiches at urban herbivore) are a must! Aztec or printed cardigans are such a fun and summer-esque way to spice you the usual solid cardigans, and surprisingly  I don't ever get tired of them because they are quite universal!  It's February, which means only good things are to come from now on! Fashion week/month is coming up, and so many more fun events!
See you soon!

SE FAIRE DES ILLUSIONS.

Yesterday was quite a strange day, to say the least.
It started at 4 in the morning, when my fire alarm went off. Now, I don't usually react to my fire alarm because it goes off every week for unknown reasons. This time though, a fireman knocked on my door and was telling everyone to get out. Turns out there was a dangerous quantity of carbon monoxide in my house, which you wouldn't be able to see or smell because CO is a color-less, odorless deadly gas. Pretty interesting way to start the day! Later I went into town with my friend Julia and we shopped around, and I finally found the hat of my dreams which I had to immediately change into!
Of course I fell asleep at 19:00, which irked me, but considering that my day had already been 15 hours long- it was all the justification I needed.
See you soon!

SNOWY STABLES.

A preppy, riding-boot accessorized outfit is quite unusual for me. I found these topshop boots a month ago, tried them on, and for whatever reason decided not to get them. Thankfully when I came back a couple days ago, they were marked down more than 70%. Total steal for the quality and how wearable they are!
The Ray-Ban aviators are also a brand new addition to my wardrobe. They are a part of the new Summer 2013 collection, and despite their current out-of-season appeal, I love them to pieces!
Also, yes, I finally decided it was time to start wearing an actual coat, unlike this outfit post.
Are you proud of me? My blood temperature is!
See you soon,
xo
