DESERT DREAMS.

Silk Blouse: Sandro / Trench coat: Sheinside.com / Jeans: J Brand / Boots: Seychelles / Sunglasses: Ray-Ban Aviators / Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs / Ring: Vidakush / Necklace: LeiVanKash

Did you know that it is my wildest dream to live in the Sahara Desert?
I have this feeling from deep within that I am meant to live in a climate of dry heat, so I don't get numb fingers and toes everyday from frost.
But hey, it's officially spring now! I bought brand new outdoor furniture today, and the weather is looking good from now on, so no complaining from me!

I used to wonder: why do people wear trench coats? The material won't keep you warm, and if it's warm enough to wear a trench coat I would rather just wear a blouse or sweater! Well, my friends, I can report back to you from first hand experience that yes indeed, a trench coat is the last thing that will keep you warm. But it looks damn cool.
This week was incredibly fun, and I had the opportunity to walk in my first runway show ever. Once I get the video and pictures from the show, I will definetly make a post about the collection!
Next week I am also working a few events, and hopefully I'll be shooting for my portfolio more!
Happy spring!

OVERJOYED.

Top: Urban Outfitters / Skirt: Brandy Melville / Plaid shirt: ROMWE / Converse: Chicnova.com / Sunglasses: Ray-Ban Reflective Aviators / Ray-Ban Wayfarers

I genuinely believe I was the happiest human on planet Earth today.
Dreams seriously do come true- it was so sunny today that I could tan outside, wear a t-shirt and not freeze! I decided to highlight a new trend I see becoming very popular now: the plaid shirt tied around the waist. The 3.1 Phillip Lim version is absolutely beautiful, but nonetheless can be recreated for a fraction of the cost by tying a vintage shirt over a black body-con skirt! This week is going to be absolutely amazing: I'm walking in the FW13 Mikhael Kale show, and will definitely be blogging all about his beautiful new collection.
See you soon (probably in a parka next time...)

WHITE TEES & FLORALS.

This week has been a whirlpool of memories and dreams come true.
Monday morning I had a meeting with an international agency and then ran over to Toronto Fashion Week right after to attend the DHL Fashion Industry panel.  It was incredibly interesting to listen to industry professionals discuss the business side of fashion- something I am very interested in. A few days later I worked two modelling jobs in the same day, waking up at 4AM. People asked me if I was exhausted or tired all day. My answer: no way. I dream of a life where I can do what I love and meet new people all day. It was perfect in every way, or maybe I say that because I got to visit the Ritz-Carlton and the Trump in the same day. I'm one of those people that walks around beautiful stores or hotels with their jaw dropped haha. I got some good news yesterday: I'll be shooting all weekend with different photographers and I have a fitting on Monday!
Also, looking at the weather forecast and seeing slow but steady increases is making me very optimistic. See you soon my beloved bicycle ;)

CANDY COLORED.

Sweater: WILDFOX / High-waisted pants: American Apparel / Combat boots: Browns / Purse: 3.1 Phillip Lim

Is my pastel clothing deceiving?
Did you think for a second that it's spring time in Toronto?
You were deceived, for it is not.
Today Anat and I walked around Queen Street West, got beer-flavored macarons from Nadege, lots and lots of tea, and then ended up at Kensington Market surrounded by vintage shops and organic markets. Next week is Toronto Fashion Week, so of course I'll share all of the exciting events and shows!
My life literally revolves around checking the weather forecast every hour in hopes for a miracle. It's not coming, is it? Last March (evidence can be found in my blog post here) it was 26 degrees Celsius... which is August weather. Can't blame me for believing in the bipolar abilities of Toronto!

SANTA MONICA.

Thankfully the last day in California was also the hottest day, so it only made sense to dedicate our time to the beach.
We started with a beautiful brunch at the well-known Ivy Restaurant, which is not a place I would usually gravitate towards because of it's colorful elegance and far-from-flashy exterior, but my goodness it was magical. Maybe I love it so much because I've been craving french toast for two months ;)
Santa Monica is such an amazing place to spend the day, especially if you're a couple (you'd fit right in with all the people making out). The whole time we were watching a couple rehearsing dramatic and romantic lines for a movie, it was quite the entertainment.
We walked around Third Street Promenade again and decided to drive back to Beverly Hills, where I made a very exciting purchase I'll share soon!
Thank you California, you were just what I needed and absolutely perfect in every way.
To everyone dreaming of taking a trip to Los Angeles: set your mind to it, and then just go for it
See you soon

CITY OF ANGELS.

As the weather was warming up in Los Angeles, we decided to spend the day hiking up Runyon Canyon and the Hollywood Observatory.
Runyon was an absolute dream. I can't explain to you how peaceful it was, despite the hundreds of people around you. If I had to call anywhere in the world my "happy place"- that would be it.  I also got a parking ticket for "blocking the driveway", which to be honest, I was kind of excited about because I felt like an adult haha.
Of course we ended up back at Whole Foods for dinner (making that the fifth time in four days), and crashed at like 8:00pm.
P.S. I thought it was interesting that someone commented that my Celine purse looked too "posh" for an outfit consisting of flannel and denim.  The way I look at it is: fashion isn't meant to be taken so seriously :) It's just a purse, and if it makes me happy... you sure bet I'll wear it!

HOLLYWOOD HILLS.

Friday was a day that brought on confusion: it was supposed to rain and be cold. What really happened? It was warm and sunny. Thanks California ;)
We decided to drive up the Hollywood Hills, which let me tell you, is overwhelming in the best way possible. The views, the houses, and the roads are everything you would think they'd be. Then we drove to Toluca lake because we expected to see celebrities jogging and paparazzi on every corner... that didn't happen. We ended up doing some shopping at the Third Street Promenade, which is when I decided to change into my new wildfox jumper. We had dinner at Urth Caffe again, because it was that good yesterday. From now on it'll only get warmer, so say hello to the denim cut offs :)

BEVERLY HILLS: 90210

Another beautiful day in Los Angeles: complete!
We started the morning at Urth Caffe, which I knew would be amazing but wasn't sure if it was worth the hype. Let me assure you, it is definitely worth the hype. I don't think I've ever had a better breakfast, and that says a lot coming from a breakfast connoisseur like myself (get a granola bowl or the banana nut oatmeal and a boba).
We then went on a walk down Rodeo drive and ended up at Sprinkles, which I certainly didn't mind. The european architecture and overall feel of Rodeo drive was beautiful, and we did indeed see a million-dollar car as rightfully expected.
We drove back to Santa Monica and shopped around at Buffalo Exchange, and then had dinner at Whole Foods (again...)

I chose a monochromatic combination of a silk cami and skirt to purposefully match the elegance of Beverly Hills, and matched it with a sea foam green cardigan for contrast and warmth.

FIRST DAY IN L.A.

Shirt: Asos / Jeans: Urban Outfitters / Cut-out boots: Topshop / Beanie: Urban Outfitters / Purse: Celine Luggage

How would I describe the first day in LA? Oasis.
We got in last night and instantly went for a walk outside and breathed in the tropical air, wandered around gas stations and settled on a pint of ice cream from Ralph's.
Today we started our day off at 7AM thanks to jet lag, but it was actually quite nice because we got a lot of things done within the day. We walked to Whole Foods for grocery shopping and grabbed breakfast (...and chocolate) while we were there. From then on, we got lucky enough to be able to have access to a car to drive to West Hollywood and Beverly Hills, which is where we mostly spent the day. Everyone in LA uses this "cold" weather to their advantage and breaks out cute winter coats, whereas I whip out my t-shirts ;)
We had dinner at Katsuya on Hollywood and Vine (Hillary Duff song memories, anyone?) and then drove back home.
Unfortunately we didn't get insanely lucky with the weather, but that's not going to stop me from having an amazing time.
See you in 90210 tomorrow.

LA FIN.

Coat: Choies.com / Beanie: Urban Oufitters / Black Jeans: Hudson Jeans / Yellow Pullover: Vintage / Scarf: Forever 21 /  Boots: Choies.com / Purse: 3.1 Phillip Lim

La fin... yes I can only hope that this is la fin of winter coats, scarves and mittens.
It's March! Why aren't the flowers blooming yet? Why were my toes numb when I got home today? What ever happened to climate change?
Thankfully I'm escaping to Los Angeles tomorrow and bearing my pale ghostly limbs to the sun. I honestly don't even know how I'm going to react when I land on the California soil and go outside... and feel warm. What is it like to be outside and not freeze? I don't remember!
I'll be sharing my travels with you for the next week so be sure to visit soon.

A SIGH OF RELIEF.

Sweater: T by Alexander Wang / Flower Crown: VidaKush

I am extremely grateful for everything and everyone in my life.
This week I was able to spontaneously buy a ticket to Los Angeles and get my good friend to come with me. If you didn't know, this has been a burning dream of mine for as long as I can remember.
As if that wasn't enough, I got signed to Plutino this week, which is an amazing modeling agency.
The day I went to their open call, the weather was absolutely terrible. There was a snow storm the night before, but it had all melted, so you were basically forced to walk ankle-deep in water and slush. Of course, Toronto weather is incomplete with disgusting cold wind, so that also accompanied my early morning mission. I also got lost thanks to the accuracy of Google Maps (major sarcasm), and I was on the brink of giving up. When I arrived to greet the agents of Plutino Group, I got signed to them right on the spot.
Words can't describe how excited I am to be able to work with such dedicated and experienced agents. So this is what I was vaguely saying in my past few blog posts: always start at the top when (inevitably) seeking acceptance. You never know who will believe in you and taking the risk is work it.
