TODAY.

Today I had my first professional test shoot with a photographer. Not only that though, I also had to get up super early in the morning to rush to my driving school, leave that an hour early, and run downtown for the shoot haha. I only got 4 hours of sleep, and am d-r-a-i-n-e-d to say the least. Nonetheless, I feel like this is a moment worth documenting. It's always interesting talking to people in the industry because their conversations alone are such an inspiration. It's funny though, how whenever I talk to people in the modelling industry they always ask me if I'm going to a casting for ___ fashion week, or if I've traveled anywhere lately, and all I can say is .. *cricket cricket* (nothing). It sucks because there's not much I can do about it.
When I get the pictures from the shoot I'll definitely show you guys!
Side note: modelling is difficult. I never assumed it was easy, but it's even harder than I imagined. It's the kind of challenge that gets more native to you as you get more experienced, though.  I have to say, it's an unbelievably fun job and I adore everyone that works in the industry because I feel like I relate to them so easily.
Goodnight! (that was a joke.. I have to write an essay so it will not be a good night unfortunately haha)

EVERYDAY ESSENTIALS.

Cardigan: ROMWE / Black jeans: Necessary Clothing / Combat boots: Shoemint / Scarf: Aldo Accessories / Sunglasses: Ray-Bans / Purse: Rebecca Minkoff 5 zip / Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs
The majority of my outfit posts seem to be outcomes of a scenario where I throw on whatever clothing is closest to me on, and then realize "hey this doesn't look so bad!" But that's still better than putting on an outfit just for pictures, right? It's not as realistic and relatable! So you're welcome ;) haha
Tomorrow morning I have driving school, and then I'm supposedly taking a practice ride with my mom. I haven't driven in over a year, and when I did drive for the first time, my breaking skills weren't that great..
Speaking of my mom, today was her birthday! So happy birthday, mom! If you're reading this, which you're not haha
Now I have to go study for my business management exam :\ Have a fantastic day! Make the most of the changing weather, drink tea and coffee and more tea and coffee ;)

GRAY DR MARTENS.

So, I caved.
I got the shoes that I hated for years, but loved just as much. Reason being: they look amazing on people! I have never seen somebody look bad in doc martens. But when they're not on your feet, they just look so bulky and grotesque.. especially since my ankles resemble a 5 year olds'.
I scored them for sale on plndr, for $99! They were apart of a limited edition S/S 12 collection featuring croc-skin (faux) boots. They usually sell for $160 and up in Canada, so I'd say I scored big time. And oh, what's that? I also got a style stalker cardigan (retails for $300) for free with this purchase? Sure did ;)
I freaking love you, plndr.

Hope to get these in the mail soon and start experimenting with different outfits :) It'll be a challenge to make them look good, but I think it'll be worth it because they are so timeless .. and badass!

SIMPLEST OF ALL.

Blue jeans, white shirt.. walked into the room you know you made my eyes burn;)  I threw this together without thinking but I thought it looked cool enough to take some pictures.. I'd take the classic "terrace pictures", but it was pouring rain all day! These are still my favorite jeans, and I think I love wearing them so much because people always give me looks as if I got attacked by a rabid animal and can't be bothered to buy new jeans haha

BDG Jeans: Urban Outfitters / Crochet Cardigan: Brandy Melville / White top: Wilfred / Combat Boots: Stole from mom.. ;)

THE BEGINNING.

Hey there!
It seems like the probability for warmer weather is declining, and the leaves are slowly turning yellow. Finally. Fall is the beast season ever. Everything comes together in fall, and it's always the most memorable season. So hallelujah, and bring on the pumpkin spice lattees from starbucks!
Funny though, that the outfit above is fit for 26 degrees... haha, I swear that was the end of it!

Now I'm registering myself for driving school, and heading to my actual school to take another course. I think I have something like 3-4 courses left until graduation, which essentially I could finish in 2 months but you know... why would I if procrastinating is so fun? ;)
See you guys soon!
p.s. I hate the rain because it prohibits biking :'(

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS.

What was your favorite place in New York?
I think just walking around SoHo was the best, and obviously, here comes a super touristic answer: times square at night. We went into the drug store on Times Square at night, looked outside...and I swear it was as bright outside as it was in the day. It's insane! (I miss NYC incredibly, btw)

Have you solved your troubles with math/school?
(If you didn't see, I had a whole video bitching & moaning about how I don't want to have to take math). In short... I finished the course in a month, and ended up with a 96%. Don't ask how... I don't know lol. I'm not bad at math, or science, I just hate knowing that I have to do it. I think I just hate knowing I have to do anything. Now I never have to take math again in my life!!

Do you wear makeup a lot?
Sonya in the 7th grade (12 years old... ya I know...)
Not. at. all. Which is ironic because some people consider me a "beauty blogger" (which I think I'm very far from). I was "religiously" against makeup in the 7th grade, and all throughout high school I've worn too much of it for my comfort. I hated being dependent on it, and finally, I'm comfortable with being en la nude. I think it has to do with your skin though! If your skin looks good, then there's less to cover up!

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Funny, I was just thinking about how much has changed since I was in the 9th grade, 3 years ago. If I took my life when I was 7 years old (10 years ago), I could have never ever ever imagined living like this. So I'm not even going to answer this question, because I think it's pathetic to plan your life out. Less talk, more do. We'll see :)

Meeting a subscriber in Russia accidentally!

Why did you not have a meetup in Russia this summer?
I talked about it, talked about it, and then it didn't happen and I never mentioned it again, classic right? I'm really sorry if I let anyone down. Here's my explanation: I planned to do this with another business as the host, because I couldn't possibly host 200 people alone. However, all the businesses I approached were confused and didn't understand why I was doing it. The more I thought about it, the more I realized it would give me anxiety and panic to have to meet 200 people in an unorganized fashion. I hope you can understand that if you were in my position, meeting so many people alone can be scary.

Thanks for asking questions guys! ;)
See you soon.

TORONTO VEGETARIAN FESTIVAL.

Hey everyone!
Today's post is something a little different: it's going to be about my evening at the Toronto Vegetarian Festival! I know I'm going to get questions about whether I'm a vegetarian or not, but I already answered it here. To cut it short, I don't label myself as anything, but if I think back to the past 2 or so months, I don't think I've eaten more than a couple non-vegan things. It honestly comes naturally to me! I asked to get a media pass for the event so that I could legally take pictures and post them here for you guys (but honestly I just wanted a cool necklace lol). If you live in or around Toronto, the festival is going on Saturday and Sunday so you still have time! So if you're interested in learning about some of the vegetarian products I picked up, listen up :)

PARTY IN THE BACK.

Hello there!
I absolutely love waking up to the rain, hitting snooze and not even bothering to worry about "wasting time" or "but I need to be somewhere". Ah, the homeschool life. So I worked on these pictures for a few hours for you guys! I naturally gravitate towards things that look unusual: shredding, weird fabrics, and studs on just about anything is my jam. Every part of this outfit is in some way unusual, although it looks very simple from far away. I still can't get over the fact that I bought these Seven For all Mankind jeans for $5 (thanks Anat!)... I should have probably worn them on another day though, my legs were burning in the heat haha
Open back Top: Brandy Melville / Gray Printed Jeans: 7 For all Mankind / Purse: Rebecca Minkoff 5 zip / Sunglasses: Ray-ban Wayfarers / Studded Sandals: ZARA
I wore my Brandy Melville Chiyo Top so that the cool design in the back could be seen! To be honest I only bought this shirt to go with the bra... smart shopping I know haha

Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs / Eye bracelet: Romwe / Hamsa bracelet: Brandy Melville
My friend Julia and I went to Joey Don Mills, a really nice restaurant in Toronto, and of course, considering the salads were over $16... we got the side salads hahaha
It was delicious though .. while it lasted ... for 2 minutes LOL

DOWN TO EARTH.

Striped tank top: Brandy Melville / Burgundy maxi skirt: Brandy Melville
Hello my lovelies!
Today I'm biking with my friend Julia to a beautiful park and just enjoying the outdoors and getting away from the city. Maybe while we're there we'll get smoothies and walk around... desperately trying to see what's open on labour day haha
Of course, outfit shoots are in the works! Have a beautiful day and don't forget to smile =)

MAUVE MOOD.

Boots: Acne "Pistol" / Sweater: Acne  / Jeans: Acne / Mesh bra: Weekday
Gooood morning!
I just woke up and made myself a smoothie and pancakes (my latest routine breakfast). Everyone I know that has went off to college this week appears to be complaining of being homesick and missing their parents. I think humans are so free by nature, that we're afraid of it. Everyone else goes back to school in 2 days, and I'm almost done homeschooling! Crazy to think of it! I used to be crying & whining about how bad I wanted to finish school early, but now I'm realizing: what on earth am I going to do with myself? I think I'm going to have an early quarter-life crisis :)
Now, speaking of school, I have to do some assignments before I go on with wherever I'm going today.
Have a beautiful day!

BLACK ONYX.

Hey guys!
So... random post today, I know, but why not? I think it's pretty interesting! I bought these two belly button rings online at bodycandy.com and thought they were gorgeous in person! It's so so so much cheaper to buy this stuff online, and I got free shipping (yay!).

I put the black onyx ring in today.. well actually I went to a professional piercer to get it changed because I have a phobia of inserting jewelry into my belly button.. weird I know.
This is what it looks like, in my stomach (gosh this sounds weird haha).
I actually love it because since it's black, you can tell that I have my belly button pierced, whereas the typical gems sometimes become invisible!

Side story: My belly button took about 8 months to stop oozing, hurting, and being a pain in the ass. I will say though, it was so worth it. It makes me happy throughout the day to know I have it, and that's all that matters! It's so pretty and I've wanted it done since I was 13 :)

Dinner at Fresh today!
I have to be honest, I've never been impressed with their food. It comes in a quantity too small for a five year old, and is way overpriced. Most importantly, the flavours suck. It's usually like 5 pieces of steamed broccoli mixed in with some grilled tofu (BASIC!) and that's a $15  "meal" right there. I got the raw italian pasta and had to ask them to re-do it because they put waaaaay too much pesto.. it was like drowning in oil. Mind you, I'm never picky with food and even if I'm not over the moon with something, I won't ask them to fix it.. but with this, it was torture to eat. I swear it's the last time I return. BOO FRESH! Gimme ma money back. Kidding, lol.

Tomorrow I think I'm going to the lake with my mom, so I plan on taking some outfit pictures for you guys! I want to wear my maxi skirt that I got today at Brandy Melville, which finally opened in Toronto!
See you soon! xo
