NEW YORK FASHION WEEK: DAY TWO.

Photos by George Elder
Entire outfit from ZARA / Hat: Asos / Bag: 3.1 Phillip Lim / Bracelets: Topshop, Hermes, Asos.

On my second day at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week I wore a faux leather crop top/sports bra, dark wash denim boyfriend jeans, minimalistic heels, my new 3.1 Phillip Lim pashli and a baseball cap to finish it off. I believe this is called "sports luxe", a trend that has been dominating the world of fashion this spring and summer.
I had the pleasure of attending the BCBG Max Azria show, which kicked off not only NYFW, but essentially all of fashion month! Watching a fashion show was really interesting because I'm used to the technicalities of runway from backstage, or a model's perspective. It was enlightening to be the one analyzing the models and drawing conclusions on their outfits ;)
Some of my favourite pieces that Max Azria featured in his Spring 2014 collection were crisp crop-tops, light trench coats, androgynous cuts, and glasses with thick black frames. Powder blue dominated the colour scheme, with the occasional greys, nudes, and floral prints.

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK: DAY ONE

Floral dress: Lucca Couture / Combat boots: Maje / Bag: Celine / Sunglasses: Ray-Ban Clubmaster / Braclets: Asos, Topshop, Hermes / Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs

Hello Hello!
This year I decided to embark on a journey that I've only dreamt about, up until this point. I bought an airplane ticket, RSVP'd to invitations, booked a hotel room, and started planning my outfits. I've been following Fashion Week for years now, and every year I tweet something a long the lines of "Everyone is at fashion week and I'm just in bed being irrelevant". Now that I'm here, there's not a moment I have that isn't filled with gratitude. I seriously walk down the streets of NYC and smile. Maybe I'm cheesy, or maybe I'm quite literally in love with this city.
On the first day, I had the absolute best time meeting with bloggers from around the world. Come to think of it, one of the best parts of this trip has been the possibility of meeting other like-minded people. I met Liza, a russian beauty blogger, and we spent the afternoon window shopping, filming fun little videos for YouTube, and of course, what kind of tourist would I be if I wasn't taken to Times Square? ;)
When night rolled around I met with Sofie Eliseeva, one of my favourite Russian fashion bloggers. We spent some time in TriBeCa, drinking "French toast", which seriously- if you run across a cocktail that shamelessly shares it's name with a breakfast, run away.

For my first day, I decided to wear a Saint Laurent ad inspired outfit that I was instantly drawn to when I was scrolling through the September issue of Vogue. Floral print dress, fishnet tights, combat boots, and you're good. It's the perfect mix of innocence and grunge, and I am 100% committed to this beautiful lovechild of styles.
See you tomorrow for more Fashion Week craziness!

POSITANO.

Dress: Choies.com / Purse: Alexander Wang 'Kirsten' / Flats: Chanel / Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs / Bracelet: Hermes

Positano Positano, I'm sure you've seen pictures of the beautiful town on Pinterest, Tumblr, Facebook, you name it. It's pretty much known for being a colourful city built along the Amalfi Coast mountains. I remember reblogging a picture from Tumblr 4 or so years ago, and being infatuated with how magical a place could be. If you walk down the streets you'll mostly find custom sandal shops, giant lemons for sale, and gelato shops. Sounds like the summer of my dreams :) I wore my new cut-out dress that seemed to catch the attention of a lot of people, probably because it brings cut-outs and uneven seams to a whole new level! Paired with an edgy purse, and Chanel flats (because I had sandal blisters haha), I was ready to- well- to be honest- slip multiple times because Chanel flats and rocky mountains don't mix well together! I've learned my lesson though! ;)

SODA POP.

  1. Denim vest and shorts. Alexander Wang Kirsten Purse. Ray-Ban Wayfarers. Marc by Marc Jacobs watch.
Sometimes it's just appropriate to throw on a terribly 90's ensemble; it can set the mood for rummaging the streets with friends, which let's be honest, we all do on a daily basis. If you must know, I wore this ensemble to the pet store!
All jokes aside I'm really starting to fall in love with things like rompers, dresses, and matching tops and bottoms because they are just so simple to work with!
It's a no brainer! Buy a statement romper and dress and you don't really need to worry about styling!
This next week is going to be absolutly mad: I'm shooting with an amazing photographer, attending high school prom, leaving to italy for 10 days, oh and yea... turning 18!
Hello credit cards and tattoos!

NOSTALGIC.

Overall Dress: Romwe / Silk undershirt: Wilfred (similar) / Flats: Chanel / Purse: Alexander Wang / Skull necklace: LeiVanKash / Gold watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs

When denim overalls started hitting the shops this year I went bonkers! It's like a 90's child's dream-come-true! I actually still own overalls from when I was 4 years old, except now they fit me like a tank top, which is pretty damn charming if you ask me.
Sadly, no matter how many overalls with shorts I tried on, it just looked unflattering. This dress I spotted one day on romwe literally saved my overall dreams, because it was the safest mix of childish and girly- making it so easy to wear! I paired it with a nude floral cami underneath and let the dress do all the talking by keeping everything else extremely simple.
Put on some pink blush, a big smile and instantly look 10 years younger! ;)

"NEW YEAR, NEW ME!" - THE BOYFRIEND JEAN

Asos / J Brand (pictured below) / Zara / River Island / One Teaspoon (which I have been lusting after)

Boyfriend jeans have come a long way.
I remember when they used to literally look like men's jeans. Too wide of a leg, too uniform, too.. awkward. I've noticed more and more that I've recently become incredibly attracted to boyfriend jeans! They look almost like skinny jeans, except they possess a harem pant charm and a pinch of laid back cool.

The key to a perfect boyfriend jean?
- Perfectly fitted at the hips (buy your size, don't size up or down!)
- Rips and distressing to taste. I like a moderate amount of distressing. Boyfriend jeans without rips look off to me.
- The ideal shade of light blue. I find that boyfriend jeans work exponentially better when they are of a light-wash denim.
- A rolled up ankle, especially when pairing with heels.
- Confidence!

Toronto was pretty dramatically snowed in this morning, which honestly doesn't bother me too much. I don't have to drive to work, which means jasmine green tea can be my best friend right now. It's quite picturesque looking to my terrace and seeing ... white, and only white.
 See you soon!
